Popular Hollywood movie studio Miramax on Monday launched a Facebook app that lets users rent movies from within the social website.
Currently the studio lists twenty movies costing 30 Facebook Credits each ($3.00 USD) and can be viewed via the Facebook app on a desktop or laptop, Google TV device or Apple’s iPad tablet.
"Facebook Platform and Facebook Credits are open to all developers, and we’re intrigued and enthusiastic about companies like Miramax building social experiences that help people connect through entertainment content," a Facebook spokesperson said.
As of right now, the app is still in beta. It was built in “just eight short weeks,” so users should expect a few bugs and hiccups in the beginning. The service was also made available in the UK and Turkey this morning, with France and Germany on deck, according to the Miramax Blog.
