It has been officially confirmed that Sam Odio, Facebook Photos product manager is leaving the company after a year’s service. And no reason has been mentioned yet. Odio joined the company when Facebook bought the group photo-sharing service started by him, namely Divvyshot, in April 2010.
After that, Odio was made product manager for Facebook, as well as some other talented and ambitious start-up CEOs such as Justin Shaffer, Carl Sjogreen, Sam Lessin and Bret Taylor who is now Facebook CTO.
However, as its talent acquisition strategy, many who’s working at Facebook for a long time has been replaced, including some early and outstanding ones these years. The purpose of this strategy has been announced to be bringing in entrepreneurial types.
As for what will happen to Facebook Photos after Odio left, we’ve no clear information. But some screenshots published by TechCrunch yesterday seemed to be new photo-sharing interfaces for Apple’s iOS platform. The pictures weren’t well organized but reveal group photo album creation and other enhancements. However the official states no news to announce for now, although they’re working on the subject continuously.
