Facebook added Skype video calling on Wednesday for the hundreds of millions of users of the world’s leading social network.
Facebook Video Calling, powered by a compact Skype plug-in, allows users to launch a video chat session with one other person using only two clicks. Because the plug-in is downloaded on-demand, with a single permission request, users can initiate video calls and recipients can answer without pre-installing Skype’s software.
"The video calling is so great and it’s so easy," said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO. "Your least-technical friend is going to be able to get online with video chat and get connected. You’ll connect with your friends on the social network that already has all your friends."
He also said Facebook will offer group chats within “friend” groups as well as “ad hoc” group chats.
Zuckerberg announced that Facebook now has more than 750 million users.
