Ericsson to Manage Wireless Network for Clearwire

Clearwire recently announced that it is handing off engineering and support of its 4G network to Ericsson.

Clearwire will retain ownership of the network and responsibility for strategic decisions during the seven-year contract, the company said in a statement. Ericsson, based in Stockholm, will be responsible for maintenance, and network monitoring and engineering.

About 700 Clearwire employees will shift to Ericsson before mid-year 2011.

Ericsson now works for Sprint in Redmond and has an office in Bellevue, but for the time being the Clearwire employees will continue working at its Bellevue office.
