Apple sent a strong letter to patent company, Lodsys patents, in response to its claims for payments over patent infringement. In the letter Apple stated that it is "fully prepared to defend Apple’s license rights".
Lodsys has been in contact with many app developers over apparent patent infringement. Following an initial investigation carried out by Apple’s legal department, the company hit back in defense of its app ecosystem.
Bruce Sewell, the head lawyer in Apple’s legal department, stated "There is no basis for Lodsys’s infringement allegations against Apple’s App Makers." In the letter he also reiterated "Apple requests that Lodsys immediately withdraw all notice letters sent to Apple App Makers and cease its false assertions".
