Sony Corp. has promoted Andrew House to president and group chief excutive of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
House, who’s been heading Sony’s games business in Europe, replaces Kazuo Hirai, who will now serve as the chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment. The changes are effective Sept. 1.
House will be reporting to Kazuo Hirai, who took on the title of chairman of SCEI. House was pivotal in establishing the recognised console brand people are familiar with today. After joining the company in 1990, he has invested two decades working his way through the company.
Sony has been trying to recover from a slew of embarrassing hacker attacks since April. In the biggest breach, hackers compromised the security of 100 million credit card-backed accounts on the PlayStation Network.
