eBay Plans to Test Fulfillment Service This Year

eBay is rolling out a merchandise storage-and-shipping service for its sellers, a move that would help the online marketplace standardize delivery times for its merchants.

That means a boutique sunglasses maker, for example, can have his manufacturer send the shades to an eBay-affiliated warehouse, which will take charge of the storage, packing and shipping, without touching his inventory.

eBay spokesperson Johnna Hoff said the company will launch two tests later this year – one for a limited number of domestic sellers, and the other for China-based sellers who ship into the US.

“We plan to run the test later this year to help facilitate fulfillment and delivery processes to further improve the shopping and selling experience on eBay,” she said.
