CNN unveiled its new online video service, making live video from its newsroom available on its website, as well as on new versions of its popular iPad and iPhone applications.
Users can tune into CNN.com to see the live feed, which is available to users for free, but only if they happen to subscribe to a cable package at home that includes CNN.
CNN and Headline News (HLN) online and mobile streaming is currently available to approximately 50 million households with subscribers to participating pay TV providers, including: AT&T, Comcast, Cox, DISH Network, Suddenlink and Verizon, CNN said.
CNN also launched free apps for Apple’s iOS devices that offer an InstaPaper-ish view of the CNN home page, but with CNN headlines. The iPad app requires iOS 3.2 or later, while the the iPhone app requires iOS 3.0 or later.
