BT announced that it will enter into a knowledge sharing partnership with China’s second largest telecommunications company ZTE. The partnership will involve research in to fixed line communication, wireless and mobile telecommunications.
There was some concern initially due to so-called security risks involved in Chinese telecommunication companies. In this case, ZTE has a slightly cleaner reputation than its rival Huawei.
BT however reassured that its networks were safe. It released a statement;
“In terms of security, BT’s network is underpinned by robust security controls and built-in resilience,” It also ensured that BT will maintain dialogue with the UK government regarding security issues.
