Amazon announced that it will now be selling its e-reader at more than 3,200 Walmart stores across the America.
Shoppers will now be able to try out and purchase the Kindle 3G, the Kindle SO and the Kindle WiFi in Walmart. The WiFi and 3G versions will come with a $189 price tag, while special offers will pare the WiFi device down to $114 to match up with Amazon.com prices.
Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, introduced the market-leading Kindle in 2007. Since then, the company has faced competitors such as Barnes & Noble Inc’s Nook and Apple Inc’s popular iPad, two devices that Wal-Mart already sells.
