Market researcher In-stat has predicted that 3D TV shipment will rise nearly 500 percent worldwide this year, compared with last year.
Scottsdale, Ariz.-based In-Stat said it expects that all TVs with screen sizes larger than 40 inches will be 3D compatible going forward. The research firm said 3DTV units will top 300 million by 2015.
However findings on the customer interest in 3D TVs from NPD reveals some barriers in 3D TV. The research found that 45% of customers won’t buy the device as its high price as 42% customers for its requiremnet of special 3D glasses.
In 2011, Europe will be home to most 3D TV unit shipments, at just over 7 million, In-Stat says. By 2015, meanwhile, Asia Pac will dominate with a 32 percent share of worldwide 3D TV shipments.
